Can Dogs Eat Pate?

Yes, they can but only if it has been made specially for dogs!

At Dog Treats 4 U we have been busy exploring and sourcing some of the very tastiest Dog Pate’s within the UK that we can be confident to deliver to your doorstep. Below we explain some of the benefits of our pawsome range of pates.

Dogs can’t eat human pate due to the amount of salt, fat and additional flavourings/ seasonings which are considered unsafe for our canine companions. However, our dog’s pate is 100% natural, easy to digest with no artificial ingredients. Dog Pate has many advantages:

Advantages:

  •  A Supplementary food, it can be an addition to their current food and can make an everyday meal much more exiting! However, it is not a substitute for a balanced diet.

  • It is a common fact that many of our dogs will require some form of medication throughout their lives. We’ve all been there when giving our dogs medication, only for them to spit out. Pate is great way to disguise and hide these not so tasty tablets into a lip-smacking treat.

  • Pate is incredibly versatile. Its firm enough to cut into cubes, or slice. It can even be spread onto a lick mat or stuffed into a kong. Licking is known to have a calming effect, reduce stress and promote slower eating.

  • Pate can be stored and kept fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days from opening and can even be frozen too.

An ideal training treat:

  • Pate is a high value treat which assists with positive reinforcement to encourage those good behaviours that we like to see.
  • Ideal for Puppies aged 1-4 months, our pate is a great treat from 4 weeks old (see independent labels of product) as it is easily digestible.
  • A great tool to use reinforce recall. Why not have each member of the family go to a different room and call your dog, rewarding them with a piece of pate each time will be sure to encourage them to return time and time again. Once you are confident, why not take your dog to a safe wide open space and let them off their lead or harness and see your hard work pay off.
  • Reinforcing recall is a very important lesson for any puppy to learn to keep them safe.

Dogs need dental care too! Dogs can suffer from the same dental issues as we do, including gum disease, and decay. While you can get your dog’s teeth professionally cleaned, or even use dog toothpaste, dental chews are a great way to keep their teeth clean on a daily basis and prevent problems. Plus, dogs love chews and treats, so they get the best of both worlds – great dental health, and snacks they love.

Here are some of the ways dental chews can benefit your dog’s teeth.

1.       Reduces plaque

Food particles have a tendency to cling to the surface of your dog’s teeth. This can lead to a build-up of plaque, which contains harmful bacteria, which can lead to problems. Specialist dental chews, and rawhide can help scrape off plaque and food through your dog’s chewing motions. It acts in a similar way that a toothbrush would for us – but the great thing is that your dog will be too busy having fun to notice their teeth are being cleaned.

2.       Prevents bad breath

Bad breath in a dog can be an early sign of gum disease. It’s very common in dogs and is pretty unpleasant to their owners too! Plaque can be a cause of smelly breath too. Dental chews for dogs have a key benefit of removing plaque, which improves the smell of their breath with consistent use. You can find different types of dental chews, with many containing active ingredients for breath freshness.

3.       Strengthens jaw muscles

Strong jaw muscles are important for your dog’s overall dental health. As well as being generally a great way to expend excess energy, chewing presents a healthy challenge to your dog. Strong jaws are vital for your dog’s wellbeing and quality of life. It improves their ability to grasp food and toys in their mouth.

4.       Prevents gum disease

While gum disease is a common problem with dogs, it shouldn’t be left unaddressed, as it can lead to bigger issues such as tooth loss later on. When your dog regularly has something healthy and clean to chew on, excessive tartar and plaque is removed, preventing the build-up that can lead to gum problems. Many chews are shaped in a way that can get into the areas between the teeth, and promote a scrubbing effect.

We stock a huge range of dog chews that your pet will love. Many of them provide all the benefits mentioned above, and more. Bursting with flavour, and providing plenty of entertainment and exercise for your dog, our dental chews and other dog treats can all be ordered online for delivery across the UK.

Once you’ve brought home your new bundle of fluff it’s important to consider how you go about training your pup and what treats you can give them to encourage those good behaviours.

With so many treats to choose from, many of them being unhealthy it can be a minefield to navigate. Natural treats are a good way to ensure they have a tasty treat that is gentle on their stomach.

 Healthy Treat Checklist

 ·       Make sure whichever treat you choose is suitable for your puppy’s age.

·      Choose a treat that is easy to digest.

·      Always ensure your puppy is supervised.

·      Always have fresh drinking water available.

·      Check the ingredients – choose natural products over highly processed alternatives.

·      Experiment with different flavours and textures to find out what your puppy enjoys.

·       Choose a treat size suitable for the age, size and breed of your puppy.

As you may be aware we adopted our very own Chief Taste Tester Simba from the Dogs Trust last year. As our way of saying thank you for the wonderful work they do we wanted to treat the pups in their care with some delicious snacks. This was how our Dogs Trust Christmas Campaign was born.

by websitebuilder@1and1.de 10 February 2017

Dog Treats 4 U has teamed up with the Dogs Trust to help bring some Christmas cheer to the 1,800 that are currently being cared for by Dogs Trust, whilst they wait for the new forever home this Christmas.

We’re asking our customers to gift anything they can spare, from a small donation of £1, £3 or £5 to a special edible doggy treat. All donations will be gratefully received and will be gifted to the Dogs Trust in time for Christmas.

At Dog Treats 4 U, we have a special place in our hearts for the Dogs Trust as they helped us rehome our very own Chief Taste Tester ‘Simba’ earlier this year. We hugely value the wonderful work they carry out for so many dogs across the UK each and every day. Without this amazing charity we wouldn’t have our beautiful Black Labrador!
